Attendance Policy
At the Hadley Junior High School, our research has shown a direct correlation between good attendance and high achievement. We encourage students to come to school and only miss school when absolutely necessary. When a student is absent from class or classes, the student is responsible for all work missed.
Attendance is taken during first class. Students who are late will be listed as absent and must report to the office for an Admit Slip before proceeding to class. As well, if students come in to school later in the day (from an appointment, etc.), or are leaving school early (prior to dismissal) they must report to the Office and be signed out by a parent or guardian.
Parents are encouraged to leave a message on the answering machine prior to 8:30 a.m. when they know their son/daughter will be away that day. A phone call from home about student absence or lates is highly encouraged.
In the event that parents have not left a message at the school, or if the school secretary has been unable to verify the students absence, a signed note explaining the absence will be expected on the child's return.
In certain cases (a student skipping classes, etc.) parents will be telephoned as soon as possible to verify absence.
