Excel Program Promotion Policy

In order for a student to be promoted from one grade level to another, every student shall complete the following minimum requirements for promotion:

  1. In Secondary 1, a student must pass four of: English, French, Math, Physical Education, and/or Moral Education in one academic year. A student can only be promoted to the next grade level by achieving the above minimum requirements.
  2. In Secondary 2, a student must pass two of: English, French, and/or Math and two of: Cultural Arts (cumulative mark for all four terms), Physical Education, and/or Moral Education in one academic year. A student can only be promoted to the next grade level by achieving the above minimum requirements.
  3. Parent(s) / guardian(s) of students who are in danger of retention shall be notified by conference or by mail of the student's possible retention at the end of the second term. The parent(s) / guardian(s) shall receive final notification of the student's retention, by mail, at during the month of July.
