Various types of writing are practices during the year, such as autobiography, short stories, personal experiences, descriptive and letter. The last project of the year is usually a "How To" booklet e.g. How to Skateboard, a technical type of writing. Students compile a portfolio of their work at the end of the year choosing several of their best pieces. A letter to the next teacher is included explaining why these pieces were chosen.
